Associate R&D Manager – Electrical & Software Testing for Stryker

Corporation in Portage, MI to lead a team focused on electrical and

software developmental testing, including script writing from design

documents for integration and system level testing, conduct System

Integrity Testing (SIT) and hardware-related testing. Identify and develop

custom test tools, and partner with the R&D technical leads and test lab

test leads on projects (20%). Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the

engineering function within appropriate guidelines, policies and

regulations. Establish, guide and deliver goals and accomplishments of the

team and department (10%). Responsible for primary hiring, on-time

performance appraisals, coaching and counseling, employee development and

necessary communications regarding performance issues (20%). Serve as test

engineering liaison with the test lab, R&D teams and remote support teams

and external test partners (10%). Actively direct the development testing

activities of remote employees in overseas facility, including bi-directional travel for purposes of project deliverables and for employee development (15%). Provide direction and support to cross

directional travel for purposes of project deliverables and for employee

development (15%). Provide direction and support to cross-functional team

members with respect to software integration and system level as well as

hardware SIT testing, design, and sustainment activities in relation to

design engineering activities (5%). Maintain timeliness of test engineering

schedule to ensure effective administration of time standard practices.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and compliance activities within

prescribed area (5%). Develop status reports and other related

communications. Operate within budget and organizational guidelines and

philosophy by implementing cost reduction programs through value analysis

(5%). Lead cost reduction effort of department. Facilitate Engineering

Change Order (ECO) release. Plan and coordinate with other engineering

areas to ensure timely and efficient product production (5%). Maintain

records as appropriate and in accordance with Stryker specifications. Serve

as final release authority on engineering drawings and other documentation

(5%). Up to 25% travel required (domestic and/or international). Requires:

Bachelor's degree or foreign education equivalent in Electrical

Engineering, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering plus three (3)

years of experience supporting new product development and compliance with

applicable regulations and FDA/ISO design and process control standards,

including ISO 13485, 14971, 21 CFR 806, 820 IEC 60601 for Class I and II

medical devices. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative

experience requirements not applicable to this section): performing

embedded software and electrical hardware design and development; utilizing

electrical and software development lifecycle processes for software

testing, including unit and system level testing, development of

specifications, requirements, and design documentation; and testing

software for hospital products, including hospital beds, stretchers,
