today! Position Summary: The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is
responsible for all aspects of engineering and maintenance for the
plant. He/she is expected to provide leadership, technical
expertise and drive results across capital execution, site and
facility maintenance, asset and productivity improvements while
managing and minimizing labor & overhead costs while ensuring the
highest levels of safety, quality, sanitation and regulatory
compliance. The incumbent is a key member of the Wellness Pet
Company Leadership Team who supports and promotes food safety and
quality program initiatives within the plant environment. Duties &
Responsibilities:Ensures mechanical and electrical expertise are
available to production and other departments to maintain
production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds in a 24-hour,
7-day per week operation.Drive key initiatives around the
standardization of "best practices" and policies for the
Maintenance DepartmentProvide leadership and direction to plant
maintenance function covering the 24/7 operationImprove employee
safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall
equipment effectiveness (OEE) utilizing Continuous Improvement
techniquesUtilizes mechanical and electrical expertise to manage
production systems, utilities, buildings and groundsManages
schedule of preventative maintenance. Full knowledge and
utilization of the Wellness Pet Company Operational system and
technology in support of maintenance & engineering functionsManage
contractors and site maintenance personnel regarding site capital
projects. Contract administration, including reviewing bid
packages.Responsible for Continuous Improvement programs related to
engineering, to generate improvement plans that feature both short
and long-term improvements, with and without capital
investment.Business driver of Value Stream Mapping and Lean
ProcessesDrive key initiatives throughout the facility in the areas
of Maintenance, fixed asset management, plant layout & flow
manufacturing, managing floating bottlenecks, FDA/GMP/AIB
compliance, safety and automationTrain staff members on new
technologies Provides management of employees (Maintenance
Supervisor, Maintenance Technicians(s), Engineer(s)(Process and
Controls), directly and/or indirectly, to ensure effective
selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and
performance managementEngages in the typical responsibilities of a
manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and
delegating. Serve as a Change Agent responsible for elevating staff
member's capabilities for the benefit of the organization.Drive key
initiatives around processing, plant utility systems, and
packaging/material handling systemsOther duties as assigned
Workplace Safety:Completes safety system documentation and verifies
compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all
safety policiesRequired to report all safety issues, near misses,
and injuries Quality & Food Safety:Completes quality & food safety
system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards.
Reports deviations to Supervisor.Participates in mandatory food
safety and quality training program requirementsPreserves the
integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and
procedures outlined. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety
and quality system deficienciesRequired to report food safety and
quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the
BRC system. Position Requirements:Bachelors degree in
Engineering5-9 years progressive experience in manufacturing
engineering, with at least 3 years in a management role 5 years
experience in food manufacturingExtensive knowledge of operations
from a technical perspective, working knowledge of mechanical
systems, electrical systems, scaling, grinding, material handling
and control systems.High level management and business skills,
extensive financial knowledge base as well as understanding of
employment policies/procedures.Organizational, interpersonal,
communication and conflict resolution skillsAble to influence and
