Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:JOB SUMMARYPerforms both diagnostic and therapeutic radioisotope studies, which assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs technical tasks to facilitate the use of nuclear medicine including administering prescribed radiopharmaceuticals and isotopes, patient positioning and film processing. Responsible for quality control, record maintenance and other components critical in the operation of the nuclear medicine department.Performs imaging scans on patients in the department modality. Acts as an expert technical resource for the department regarding departmental protocols, procedures, and techniques. Consults with Radiologists, Referring Physicians, Supervisor, and Director regarding implementing proper departmental protocols and procedures. Assists Supervisor with evaluating and implementing departmental workflow improvements as well as recordkeeping, regulatory compliance, patient safety, technical competency of staff, and many other functions of the department. Assists Supervisor with coordinating staffing schedule, maintaining departmental budget compliance, productivity measurement, associate evaluations, departmental stock levels, and equipment maintenance.JOB DUTIESActively demonstrates the organization's mission and core values, and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information. Maintains and participates in associate work and call schedules. Maintains Departmental Imaging Protocols. Ensures consistent use of these protocols among all associates in the department. Oversees and directs work of associates in the department to ensure proper departmental workflow. Responsible for maintaining imaging records in accordance with standards and protocols. Adheres to all local, state and federal regulations as they apply to Imaging services. Ensures maintenance of adequate levels of approved supplies necessary to perform departmental procedures. Evaluates quality and cost effectiveness of new or replacement supplies and equipment, and makes recommendations to Supervisor. Oversees the collection and coordination of recording data for Quality / Compliance initiatives Ensures departmental equipment is maintained in safe operating condition and contacts Bio-Med personnel as appropriate. Closely monitors and maintains patient schedule and appointments. Ensures departmental schedule is appropriate for patient volume and recommends adjustments as necessary. Coordinates and ensures department communication with Physicians, Associates, Patients, Families, and Visitors to facilitate departmental workflow. Assists and makes recommendations to Supervisor and Director about management duties. Management duties include, but are not limited to, Performance Evaluations, Timecards, productivity, revenue, quality assurance and other Management functions. Duties & responsibilities include accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients, including those that may produce patient charges. If designated as a "Revenue Lead", additional responsibilities will include revenue reconciliation and charge-error correction as specified by departmental process and hospital policy. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIESEducation: Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine principles and techniques normally acquired by completing an approved school of Radiological Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology in order to handle both the radiological and biohazard facets of Nuclear Medicine.Licensure: M u s t hold an Indiana license in Nuclear Medicine Technology (ISDH) and be BLS certified .Experience: Minimum of one year clinical experience in a Nuclear Medicine Department.Other Job Requirements: Must be fully aware of policies, rules, procedures, and regulations as established by the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, JCAHO, and the Indiana State board of Health.Work requires the ability consistently perform at a high level of mental effort while performing tasks accurately and without error.Work requires exceptional analytical skills to perform Nuclear Medicine tasks accurately as well as handling multiple tasks at the same time.Work requires manual dexterity to assist patients and handle heavy collimation devices.Work requires independent thinking ability to perform any examination without direct supervision.Work requires excellent communication skills to provide information to physicians, nurses, aids, schedulers, secretaries, patients, and patient's families.Work requires direct patient care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.Analytical skills necessary to complete quality assurance surveys as well as future planning and development. Critical thinking skills to address equipment and staffing issues are required.Assigned hours within your shift, starting time, or days of work are subject to change based on departmental and/or organizational needs.
