SUMMARYReporting to the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation manager,
this position is responsible for ensuring the quality ofrespiratory
care provided by the pulmonary rehabilitation program. Ensures that
staff and other resources are utilizedin the most productive way
possible while continuing to provide quality patient care,
restoring patients to their optimalphysical, mental, social, and
vocational health.The cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program
utilizes a multidisciplinary process that includes exercise
training, educationand counseling regarding risk reduction,
lifestyle changes and behavioral interventions.All unit personnel
are educated on the rehabilitative stages following a cardiac event
and the rehabilitative process forpulmonary patients.JOB DUTIES1.
Actively demonstrates the organization's mission and core values,
and conducts oneself at all times in amanner consistent with these
values.2. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining
to patient health, safety and medical information.3. Actively
participates in daily operations of the pulmonary rehabilitation
program to ensure optimal benefit forpatients receiving pulmonary
rehab services.4. Provides clinical assessment to determine patient
eligibility for rehabilitation training.5. Provides patient
education, regarding disease process, lifestyle management,
psychosocial wellbeing, andnutrition.6. Works with patients to
ensure they are progressing toward their goals and to identify any
clinical issues thatmight require physician intervention.7.
Prepares documentation to align with departmental protocols as well
as the American Association ofCardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehab
(AACVPR) and Medicare guidelines. Avoid use of brand names
andproprietary terms, e.g., "FedEx." Do not state or imply the
gender of incumbents.8. Demonstrates competence in all aspects of
patient care as put forth by American Association ofCardiovascular
and Pulmonary Rehab (AACVPR).9. Responsible for patient
assessments, daily exercise prescription, patient education,
patient follow ups andphysician communication.10. Assess need for
and initiate oxygen therapy, assessing efficacy and appropriateness
through use of physicalassessment, SpO2, and patient
interaction.11. Participates in departmental, hospital, and
community in service/education/training.12. Assist / Staff cardiac
rehabilitation program.13. Maintains American Association of
Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehab (AACVPR) Pulmonary
RehabRegistry.14. Assists in administration of cardiopulmonary
stress testing.15. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of
job as directed.JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIESEducation:
Graduate of an AMA accredited program.Licensure: Currently holding
a License in Respiratory Therapy from the State of Indiana. Must
hold minimum CRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory
Care.Experience: Previous experience in the pulmonary rehab
setting, clinical education and teaching, preferredOther Job
Requirements:Work requires the ability to communicate effectively
orally, written, and electronically. This may include
explainingclinical, technical and diagnostic procedures to patients
and their families, comforting patients and their
families,enforcing policies and regulations in difficult
situations, or performing other duties requiring a comparable level
ofcommunication.Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.EKG
interpretation preferred.Assigned hours within your shift, starting
time, or days of work are subject to change based on departmental
