$15,000 sign on bonusJOB SUMMARYProvides respiratory therapy designed to stabilize, prevent or remedy patient respiratory problems. Arranges andoperates a variety of oxygen and other therapeutic gas and aerosolized, meter dosed, or powdered medications topatients. Operates various mechanical devices that aide in the recovery of patients. Cleans and checks equipment.regularly for proper functioning and records data obtained during therapy in patient records.JOB DUTIES1. Actively demonstrates the organization's mission and core values, and conducts oneself at all times in a mannerconsistent with these values.2. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information.3. Reads and interprets physicians' orders to determine treatment requirements including type and duration oftherapy, medication, dosages, and ventilator settings.4. Confers with patients and/or family members to obtain pertinent patient information during assessment includinghistory of respiratory problems, current medication, patient pulse rate and the like. Reviews patients' chart toobtain blood-gas report and other pertinent information.5. Explains treatment procedures to patient and/ or family members to alleviate fears and elicit cooperation.6. Checks equipment for proper set-up, functioning and settings, and verifies physicians' orders before initiatingprocedures and treatments.7. Prepares medications according to prescription/order and adds to device.8. Observes patients during therapy, instructs patient in breathing pattern and reports any abnormalities to physician.Documents treatment activities and results in patient record (i.e. treatment type, medication, HR, PR, BS, cough,and so on).JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIESEducation: Graduate of an AMA accredited program.Licensure: Currently holding a License in Respiratory Therapy from the State of Indiana.
