Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/03/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel /n Job Description/n American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a correctional setting in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and mandatory floating. /n /n Responsibilities/n - Work in a correctional healthcare setting within a Med/Surg unit - Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 am to 7:30 pm - Every other weekend required (two weekends per month) - Mandatory floating to any facility or unit within Cook County as needed, up to 50 miles away - Uses Cerner for electronic charting - Navy blue scrubs required - RTO limited to 5 days maximum per contract, no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends or holidays - No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be approved - Free parking available on a first-come, first-served basis - Team-based model used if floated outside primary competency area - Strict compliance policies including lab work completion within 72 hours of offer acceptance - First-time travelers will be considered /n /n Requirements/n - Active IL RN license required (no pending licensure accepted) - Minimum of 2 years recent acute care Med/Surg experience - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - Correctional nursing experience preferred - Must live within 75 miles of the facility - Proof of COVID vaccine required (booster not required) /n Benefits/n - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts /n American Traveler Job ID P-658515.
