First-timers are accepted. Candidates must live at least 50 miles
away from the facility. Description: This unit specializes in
cardiac telemetry. The patient population includes heart failure,
heart attack (both STEMI and NSTEMI), stroke, cardiac arrhythmias,
and chest pain. Patients may also require cardiac drips. The unit
will provide PCA support. The staffing ratios may increase to 1:7
until workload improvement is achieved. The majority of patients
are on cardiac monitors. These patients are monitored in a remote
telemetry room as well as closely on the unit. The unit may also
accommodate overflow medical patients as needed. The work schedule
involves every other weekend and requires working two out of three
holidays. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed, but the management
will do their best to accommodate. Additional skills required
include telemetry monitoring, cardiac care, and the management of
dysrhythmias. You should be knowledgeable in various procedures,
including sheath removal and central line management. Experience
with charting in a specific system is required. Candidates should
also be proficient in interpreting arterial blood gases and
managing oxygen administration. Experience with rapid response
teams and code management is essential. Compliance with COVID-19
and flu vaccination requirements is mandatory, with exceptions only
for medical or religious reasons. The facility has an
interdisciplinary support team, including physical therapy and
respiratory services. You should be prepared to float within the
hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed. Important
note: Conduct issues such as unprofessional behavior or shift
call-offs are taken seriously and may lead to contract termination.
