Surgical Tech Location: Grand Rapids, MI Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,913 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Medical Staff Specialty: Agency Staff Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: None specified Certifications: - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: - Ability to scrub multiple specialties: Neuro, Ortho, ENT, GYN, Plastics - Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a member of a team - Attention to detail Description: The Surgical Technologist maintains responsibility for preparation of the surgical suite. This includes the intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during surgical procedures. The role requires appropriate responses as needed during surgeries. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and principles related to those procedures. May serve as a Preceptor. Education requirements include an Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited school of surgical technology. Experience working with high-tech equipment is essential. Intact sight and hearing along with eye/hand coordination is required, especially for loading/cutting sutures and instrument handling. Candidates must have excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong time management and organizational skills are necessary. The ability to make quality, independent decisions is crucial. Analytical and strong problem-solving skills are required. Candidates must be able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines and high volumes. They must maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality. Additional competencies include the ability to listen to others and proficiency in using various computer hardware and software systems. Essential functions of the role include: - Providing sterile instruments and supplies during surgical procedures - Performing surgical sponge, needle, and instrument counts - Creating and maintaining a sterile and safe environment - Preparing case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments, and medications/solutions for each surgical case - Assisting in positioning patients for surgical procedures while maintaining a protective position throughout the case - Working proactively with physicians to update preference cards - Suggesting instrument set changes and collaborating with departments to identify instrument sets for improvement - Actively engaging in case costing by discussing product usage with surgeons - Participating in safety initiatives and risk-mitigating measures - Completing all relevant safety-related competencies and requirements on a timely basis - Performing other duties as assigned.
