License in Michigan Certifications: BLS, ONS or ONCC certification
required, ONS must be pending at minimum Must-Have: - Experience in
administering chemotherapy via IV - Experience in starting IVs -
Proficient in using medical equipment such as vital sign towers and
IV pumps - Experience with electronic documentation systems
Description: This role involves caring for step-down patients with
general medical and oncology needs. The nurse will be responsible
for administering chemotherapy and starting IVs. The unit has a
nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff available if
ratios increase. Shift scheduling will include working every other
weekend. Float to other medical-surgical areas may be required to
care for patients. The nurse must be available for the first two
weeks of the assignment. Requests for time off after the offer will
need to be discussed with management. Candidates must have
experience monitoring chemotherapy and maintaining IVs. Patient
demographics include adults and geriatric populations. The unit
frequently manages diagnoses such as sepsis, renal failure,
respiratory failure, cancer, and heart failure. Interdisciplinary
support is available throughout the unit, including therapy and
social services. This position does not require a COVID-19 vaccine;
however, a flu vaccine is required with medical exemptions only.
