registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN
experience required. Applicants who do not meet these
qualifications will not be considered. A registered nurse (RN) with
experience in stepdown or progressive care nursing is needed to
provide specialized patient care in a 27-bed Cardio-Pulmonary unit.
This contract position offers a 36-hour guaranteed schedule on
12-hour day shifts, with every other weekend and major holiday
required. Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are preferred.
Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive assessment and continuous
monitoring of patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions
including heart block, chest tubes, and chronic cardiac issues.
Administer and titrate cardiac drips (excluding vasopressors) using
Alaris pumps. Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts,
BiPAP, Sara Stedy, PCA, GlucoStabilizer, and bedside cardiac
monitors. Serve as a patient advocate, coordinating care across
interdisciplinary teams while promoting patient safety. Manage
complex clinical scenarios including multi-system organ failure and
acute cardiac conditions. Maintain compliance with nursing practice
standards and hospital policies. Provide education to patients and
participate in unit-based quality improvement. Float to other units
as needed for stepdown patient care. Pass an EKG exam at
orientation (study guide provided). Qualifications: Active RN
license in the applicable state or compact license. Minimum of 1
year RN experience, with at least 6 months in an acute care
hospital setting preferred. Current BLS and ACLS certification
required; NIH Stroke Certification preferred. Familiarity with EPIC
Electronic Health Records and critical care courses advantageous.
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to
navigate high-stress environments. Ability to manage patients
requiring advanced respiratory support and hemodynamic monitoring.
