Effectively operate a console-type switchboard and/or provide
information and assistance necessary to maintain communications of
the Medical Center through telephones, paging, alarms and radio.
Provides answering service for all of SJPN, SJVNA and other

Operates multiple-line console in order to answer, transfer and
relay incoming telephone calls and assists in placing local and

Announces all emergency codes via public address system, i.e.,
STAT calls, ALL CODES, notifying appropriate hospital personnel
and/or outside agency personnel for quick response. Monitors all
alarm panels including emergency data computer and notifies
appropriate personnel when an alarm is activated.
Maintains a variety of records including names and locations of
physicians on staff at Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS), on call
physicians, patient information (such as admission, transfer,
discharge and condition data) and any other changes in data.
Provides after-hours answering service for SJPN, SJVNA and other
physician offices, including keeping all data current, correct
on-call physician for each practice and pages the on-call physician
via digital/alpha pagers with correct messages.
Contacts security as requested by colleagues or visitors in need
of escorts to parking areas or in response to calls for other
assistance or safety issues.
Assists in training and orienting new colleagues.

Education: High school diploma required, with business classes
preferred to provide a sense of responsibility and knowledge of
general office procedures.
Experience: Experience in answering multi-line phones and
customer service preferred. Basic computer knowledge desired.
