Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription: JOB SUMMARY Functions as a departmental specialist, providing on-going training to colleagues in Patient Access at Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS). Works with the Patient Access Trainer to develop, maintain, and monitor systems to measure quality, compliance and point of service collection information collected by the department. JOB DUTIES 1. Actively demonstrates the organization's mission and core values, and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values. 2. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, privacy and medical information. 3. Responsible for performing editing functions to ensure that all accounts are accurate and compliant prior to billing. 4. Works with management in the departments involved in the Revenue Cycle to receive the feedback necessary to ensure that all Patient Access functions are performed appropriately. 5. Assists IT and Patient Financial Services to ensure that system tables are maintained and developed. 6. Assists in the timely preparation of monthly statistical reports (i.e. Quality, Point of Service Collections, Compliance and Productivity). 7. Assists in developing systems to monitor quality, compliance, productivity and point of service collections. 8. Works with managers to provide feedback and training to staff on errors and other issues that affect reimbursement and/or organizational integrity. 9. Demonstrates the professional ability to deal positively and effectively with adversarial situations. 10. Adheres to all sections of the departmental Customer Service Policy including all guiding behaviors. 11. Independently resolves complex payor issues. 12. Provides back-up coverage for Manager of on-call pager (24/7 coverage). 13. Performs other duties consistent with the purpose of job as directed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES Education: Associate Degree preferred. Licensure: CHAA preferred. Experience: Three to five year experiences in health care or insurance setting. Interpersonal skills necessary to negotiate in high-stress situations when representing the hospital in legal and adversarial situations. Working knowledge of third party payer regulations, requirements, and laws governing admissions/registration procedures. Proficient in medical terminology. Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications. Other Job Requirements: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Medicare Compliance Regulations . Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, co-insurance, co-pays and deductibles. This position requires a clean, neat and attractive appearance. Hair should be clean and updated in style, and should be of a natural shade. Nails should be no longer than " past fingertips. Strong fragrances, excessive jewelry piercing and visible tattoos are prohibited. Superb Customer Service skills required over the phone and in person. Must be able to travel to all Patient Access sites. Performs job responsibilities to the highest standards and delivers "something more" that ensures a more complete and personally satisfying experience for every customer. Must be willing to participate in Continuing Education seminars as related to Patient Access. Working knowledge of how data impacts the Revenue Cycle. Assigned hours within your shift, starting time, or days of work are subject to change based on departmental and/or organizational needs .
