DirectorJob Overview:The focus of the Purchasing Manager is
sourcing, quoting, developing new suppliers and price negotiation,
leading parts and materials purchases by developing sources of
supply and monitoring supplier performance; obtaining required
parts and materials, verifying receipt of items, authorizing
payment, managing and controlling inventory, and optimizing current
purchasing processes.Essential Responsibilities:
- Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and study and
analyze suppliers' best sources consistent with cost, quality, and
delivery requirements. Negotiate and manage long-term pricing
agreements on critical commodities.
- New preform sourcing and supplier development; work with the
NPD group for evaluation and preform supplier approval.
- Collaborate with Logistics and Global Materials Manager to
optimize current inventory levels and drive cost improvements.
- Keep track of prices and provide recommendations on preforms
and all other supplies purchases.
- Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to
resolve procurement-related problems.
- Ensure recommended parameters are maintained by monitoring
minimum, maximum, safety, and current inventory levels; make
recommendations to management for adjustments to levels.
- Work across supply chain streams to optimize and drive costs
down by scaling up current procurement and inventory control
processes and procedures.
- Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that products are
delivered as scheduled and meet specifications; maintain
appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure
company requirements are met and that suppliers are aware of their
performance.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other job-related
tasks as needed, enabling other workers to achieve their job
objectives.
- Maintain procurement records such as items or services
purchased, cost, delivery, product quality or performance, and
inventories.
- Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with
engineers and/or quality control personnel, vendors, and others to
determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.
- This position supports all GMP initiatives establishing
customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and corrective and
preventative action. Create reports to share information and
knowledge as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
- Adapt to new processes, products, and technologies as required.
Learn and understand our products and technology at a level
sufficiently high to efficiently identify and route requests for
assistance to the proper division, department, or individual.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven,
multi-discipline environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, identify and
address problems, and meet deadlines.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and
analyze information skillfully, and maintain confidentiality.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a
fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- High level of attention to detail and process-driven to balance
timeliness and quality of service. Metrics for quality and
efficiency will be developed and maintained.
- Computer skills: Intermediate knowledge and experience in
computer office programs of Word, Excel, and Outlook are
requirements for this job.Physical Requirements:
- Normal conditions for an office environment.
- Requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone, and
other office equipment for extended periods of
time.Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain
Management highly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role or a combination of
experience and education will be considered.
- Experience in the plastic bottle industry or in a manufacturing
environment preferred.Benefits:
